Kumbi's lows are great; highs a bit high!

Kumbi - glucose on vet trip day

[cku100519op-b210c6.jpg] Lovely lows. Highs a bit high.

List of readings for Wednesday 19 May 2010

  1. 06:30 - 14.8 mmol/L = 267 mg/dL
  2. 07:00 - 21.2 mmol/L = 382 mg/dL (insulin 6.0 iu, 07:00)
  3. 15:31 - 6.3 mmol/L = 114 mg/dL
  4. 17:01 - 7.6 mmol/L = 137 mg/dL
  5. 18:32 - 14.2 mmol/L = 256 mg/dL (before feeding)
  6. 19:00 - 22.3 mmol/L = 402 mg/dL (pre-insulin, 6.0 units)

Lows are slightly down, but good; highs up a bit

The high readings of the morning and evening are still higher than I like; in fact, higher than yesterday.

The lows are down a bit, but still in a good range; there's just a bit of wiggle-room to stave off hypoglycemia.

Kumbi, this is the last day af semi-curve readings for you. I'm close to running out of 21-gauge lancets, and I really HATE to go back to 25-gauge. You do, too! And - I can't FIND more 21-gauge lancets in the stores - at least, not for now. Besides, it looks as though for the time being, you're safe on six internationsal units of Novolin-NPH insulin, for the emoment.

So I'll just keep one eye on your low times. Sort of. Then maybe we can go some days with NO pricks at all. What do you think of that? Dr. Carla even suggested it!

Mummy - Dr. Carla is making really good sense. Why don't you listen to her?

Okay, Kumbi; I will. We have a very busy day tomorrow - it's Hunt Day, you know. You're coming with me tomorrow! Like that?

Sure Mummy! Lots better than staying home alone! It was okay when Kwali was here, but since she's not, I'd rather go with you.

Okay, Kumbi; it's a deal!

Updates will follow. Of course!

CLAIMER: Content here results from my personal experience, as instructed by my fabulous veterinarians and veterinary technicians, and also, as instructed by Kumbi. Even Kwali gets a word in edgewise. We use the Lip-Stick. There are other locations you can prick for blood; I do not myself use them, but there are web resources that show them.
