It's easy to monitor Kumbi's water consumption

Kumbi drinks from two one-liter measuring cups, which I refresh each evening. All I have to do to measure his consumption is to check the level in his water bowl.

Oh, I know; I said before his drinking bowl is a two-liter measuring cup. But I can't count liters, still I start actually looking at the measuring marks on the cups.

Kumbi also gets an additional 500 ml daily in his kibble, so that can be added to the measurement.

This time, I've plotted the water he drinks from his water bowl against his glucose levels at 15:00 (3 p.m.), 18:30 (6 p.m.) and 19:00 (7 p.m.) daily. Kumbi varies in the time he's at his lowest glucose level for the day. In readings I've been taking the last few days - 14, 15. 16 May, his low appears to be around 3:30 or 4 p.m., but it can be later.

Here, we might as well relax and enjoy quenching thirst, because the next two pages might bring on a bit of tension; they did for me!

I'm adjusting Kumbi's insulin dose, because his glucose levels are changing; dropping lower than they have done for some time!

That means I need to adjust the insulin dose, lowering it, so as not to drive Kumbi down in to a hypoglycemic episode.

Looking at this chart, I think some correlation between the combined glucose levels and water comsumption ia apparent. When Kumbi's glucose levels in the late afternoon are wide-spread - jumping around - he drinks more water; when they are closer together, without so much variation, he drinks less.

We use the Lip-Stick. There are other locations you can prick for blood; I do not myself use them, but there are web resources that show them.
