[cwj04-drawair.jpg] Draw air into the syringe
To keep pressure within the vial of insulin in a normal range, we inject air into the vial before withdrawing the insulin from it. Typically, we are expected to inject the same amount of air as we would withdraw insulin.
In my peculiar way, I inject slightly more air than I intend to withdraw insulin. It's really only a tiny bit more air - a couple of hundredths of a cubic centimeter. Perhaps this is superstitious behavior on my part, but I believe it helps me avoid drawing air bubbles into the syringe along with the insulin.
The next step is to inject the air into the vial.
